1About Serv YU

Serv YU is an online marketplace that connects people planning events (“clients”) with businesses that provide event services (“providers”) in South Africa. Serv YU is a trading name of Serv U (Pty) Ltd, operated by Simphiwe Busakwe. By using Serv YU, you agree to these Terms.

2Your account

You must give accurate information and keep your login secure. You must be 18 or older to transact. One account can act as both a client and a provider. We verify email addresses, and we may check business registration details for provider accounts.

3Our role — we're the marketplace, not the provider

Serv YU provides the platform where clients and providers find each other and transact. The actual service (the DJ set, the catering, the security team, the marquee) is supplied by the provider, not by Serv YU. The contract for the service is between the client and the provider. Serv YU is not a party to that contract and does not guarantee any provider's work.

4Bookings & the 10% fee

5Payments

Payments are processed by a third-party, PCI-compliant payment provider. Serv YU never stores your full card details. Money is taken by card once a provider approves a booking. Payouts to providers (less the 10% commission) are made through the payment provider according to its settlement terms.

6Provider obligations

7Client obligations

8Cancellations & refunds

Cancellation and refund terms may vary by provider and booking. Where money has been paid, refunds are handled through the payment provider. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act still apply. (Final cancellation windows and refund rules to be confirmed with legal review before launch.)

9Reviews

Only clients who have booked may review a provider. Reviews must be honest and lawful. We may remove content that is fraudulent, defamatory, or violates these Terms.

10Liability

Serv YU provides the platform “as is” and does its best to keep it accurate and available, but does not guarantee any provider's performance, quality or availability. To the extent allowed by law, Serv YU is not liable for losses arising from a service booked between a client and a provider. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under South African law.

11Privacy (POPIA)

What we collect

How we use it

To run the marketplace: to match clients and providers, process bookings and payments, show reviews, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

Only what's needed to deliver the service: the other party to a booking (so the job can happen), our secure payment provider, and our hosting/database provider (Google Firebase). Providers of a booking see the client details necessary to fulfil it.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, and object to certain processing. Contact us to make a request. We keep information only as long as needed to run the service and meet legal obligations.
